The DPCC Youth Centre is one of two youth centre’s in the city of Corner Brook. It is owned and operated by the Dunfield Park Community Centre. This drop in Youth Centre provides a safe and supervised alternative to inappropriate behavior for at risk youth living in Newfoundland and Labrador Housing.
A program designed to help children and youth physically, mentally and socially. We create an environment that implements education and socialization while placing focus on teaching the necessary essential skills from reading, writing and spelling, to adding, subtracting and multiplying.
Our program is to provide a safe and caring environment in which students can have access to materials such as pens, paper, textbooks, calculators,computer / internet, and qualified teachers and tutors for completion of homework assignments or help with a school concepts.
The mission of the adult basic education program is to provide instruction in the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics to adult learners in order to prepare them for transitioning into the labour market or higher education.
Established in 1991, Dunfield Park Community Centre is located currently at Ivy Court and soon to move back to its original location of 9 Vine Place in the City of Corner Brook. The Centre serves a community of 241 social housing tenants with an approximate population of 657. While the units are owned and operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, the centre addresses a variety of social, education and recreational needs within the community.
